Hallmark is back with its holiday films and I’m back with another Tyler Hynes review (I know my audience).
I think it has been pretty widely discussed that Hallmark has been moving away from the standard, predictable film – "If you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all." This one keeps you on your toes.
Joie Botkin wrote an amazing script and director, Jeff Beesley, brilliantly brought this unique screenplay to life. Best friends since childhood, Liz and Naomi – Pascal Lamothe-Kipnes and Janel Parrish, respectively – come home for Christmas for the first time in years. The girls don't expect to run into anyone they knew from high school, let alone their shared crush, Chris, played by Tyler Hynes. Spoiler alert – they do. The girls embark on a couple group hangs with Chris, all while trying to remind themselves that they’re all just friends. But are they? Does Chris have his eye on one of the girls?
Janel, Pascal, and Tyler shine in this movie. I can't think of a better way for Pascal to introduce herself to the Hallmarkies than this movie. Everyone here has such chemistry and it feels like they have been friends for years.
This movie is a wonderful film about growth in all its many forms from growing up to moving forward, and I can’t wait for everyone to see it!
